excess surface water

  1. These warnings are issued when severe weather is expected to cause
    disruption to traffic etc. over the next few hours.

    Severe Gales
    Affecting Eilean Siar
    South to southwesterly severe gales will continue over ground above 600
    metres through Friday evening with occasional gusts up to 75mph. Winds will
    decrease overnight.

    Affecting Eilean Siar & Highland
    South to southwesterly gales will continue through Friday morning and early
    afternoon over mountainous areas, with gusts of 70 to 90mph, especially on
    exposed peaks and ridges. Conditions will be dangerous for those engaged in
    outdoor pursuits. The wind will slowly decrease during Friday afternoon.

    Heavy Rain
    Affecting Highland
    To the southeast of the Great Glen, further spells of heavy rain are likely
    through the rest of this afternoon and at first this evening. In areas

    water, heavy spray and a risk of localised flooding.
