I havea Dell Inspiron 8200 (running windows 2000) that gives me a weird
error message every time I turn it on. It says that "The system was
unable to change performance. To change performance, you must shutdown
and restart your computer." Hitting "okay" only temporaraly closes the
window: it comes back up a few seconds later. Does anyone know what
    the problem might be?

Not sure exactly where other than Right click "my computer",
    properties, search around.

But there is a selection for Network Server or workstation type
performance (network is best) change the selection see if that works.
