What is the easiest and/or best way to make archival copies of my DVDs?
My vote's for DVDShrink. Then take the resulting ISO, put it on a
fileserver, mount the image, then play it through your favorite software DVD
player. You get geek points AND save money on DVD+/-R media. :)

To mount the images with Windows, use Daemon-Tools:

    http://www.daemon-tools.cc

or with Linux, look at these instructions:

You don't think that, "OTOH if what you are REALLY doing is copying rentals
DVDshrink 3.2 will do the job," is an accusation? Sorry, but I saw the same
thing he did, and I agree with him that it was unwarranted.

What is the easiest and/or best way to make archival copies of my DVDs?
The "my kids are breaking my DVD's" line is one of the most easily recognized
lies that pirates use to fool morons into helping them steal other people's
property. At least come up with something more original, thief. Y'know, like "I
wasn't going to buy it anyway so it's not really stealing" or "they make enough
money as it is" or even "DVD's shod costed onley $1!!!!!!111111"

There is one law that says one thing, and a court decision that says
something else. The court decision pre-existed the law in question, so it
*is* in flux. These issues are going through the courts right now, so it is
misleading to say, "Copying digital media is illegal, period."

No, actually the people that have been stupid enough like me to bother with
a trifle like you understand you completely, and I especially look forward
to the day you are caught, its just like speeding, sure a lot of people do
it, but eventually they all get caught sometime. Your day will come.

Why do you work for a Hollywood studio? What do you care?

You're telling me you've never borrowed a tape or cd from someone and taped it?

WHy should I? If I want to watch a movie I rent or buy it, if I want to
listen to a cd, I may borrow it from a friend, and if I like it I go buy it.
Is this a concept you just cannot grasp?
