DVD skipping

    I tried two versions of Pulp Fiction on my desktop computer's LG 40X
    DVD-ROM drive and both skip, ultimately causing the software (Xine and
    MPlayer) to crash. The same works perfectly on my laptop, though.

    I'm assuming that the drive on my computer is more susceptible to
    imperfections on the surface. Either that, or the drive is on its way
    out.
