DVD ROM not reading DVDs but reading CDs

    Hi,
    My DVD ROM (makeASUS) was working fine, but now it reads only CDs and
    doesn't recognize DVDs , in "my computer" it is detected properly as
    DVD ROM,
    Is this hard ware problem or software,
    How many lense assemblies are there in one DVD , i mean one for CD, one
    for DVD ?

    I am using XP SP2, D865GBF mother board, 2.4 GHz pentium 4.
