Does the Canon s50 have a threaded lens, and if it does, would putting
a cir-pl or UV filter on the front cause vignetting? If it's not
threaded/causes vignetting is there any other way to stick a filter
    infront of the lens?

  2. The way to do this is to buy the Kenko KAC-S50.

As to vignetting, well extra elements you put over a lens have some effect.
