Using winxp pro. What is the Documents and Settings folder for?. Pretty self
explanatory I suppose, but Ive never stored any documents in this folder or
any of its subfolders, yet it is 519 megabytes in size. Isnt that a tad
    large for just "settings"?

  2. You've definitely got something in there. Do you have your folders set
    to show 'hidden' files?

Documents and Settings is at the heart of what
YOU, as a user, have/do/save/keep/etc. on your
system. It stores everything from user registry
    hives, temporary files, favorites, documents,
icon cache, history, cookies, application specific
data, your desktop, send-to entries, your
Start Menu, document templates, and more.

The size is not overly large -- the more you have
in your documents folder, the more room you
allow for temporary internet files, etc., the larger
the folder will be, and that goes for all users.
