Running Windows XP. When I click on a folder or most shortcuts on my
desktop, they all disappear momentarily, and then it returns to normal
desktop. The file/shortcut just won't open. Sometimes if I do a reboot, all
is okay. I've run a virus/spyware check with no luck. Many thanks.

    Start | Run <type in> drwtsn32 <enter>

If the application errors is full of explorer entries, SFC would be a
    good way to go. http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html
