Connecting 2 small networks together using VPN hardware

Discussion in 'Network Routers' started by Alan Bildzukewicz, Sep 24, 2004.

  1. Hi,
I currently have two Symantec Firewall / VPN 100's on order. According
to Symantec technical presales, these two boxes have everything in them
that is included to link two small offices together. I have two offices:
The main office has 4 workstations and a Windows 2003 server. The remote
office has 4 workstations. Both offices have a 1.5/512 DSL connection
with a static IP on both ends. I currently own (personally) a Symantec
Firewall / VPN 200 that works great, however, I dont run a vpn into my
house. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience related to this
setup. I need the remote to use a couple small apps that reside on the
PDC located in main office. I am somewhat familiar with client to server
VPN's, but I havent ever setup point to point through hardware.

    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Alan

If you just need to remote to the PDC to run some apps, just use Remote
    Desktop.

As far as your routers go, open up tcp port 3389, and for any other
    firewalls, do the same.
