    Will a 3550 48 port switch work in a cluster containing 3 3548-XL
    switches?

    Any help would be appreciated.....

  2. Yes, you can slip a 3550 into a 3548 stack.

Here's a quote regarding the GBIC: "- Marketing Information: The Cisco
Systems GigaStack Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC) is a versatile,
low-cost, Gigabit Ethernet stacking GBIC that offers high-speed
interconnectivity between Catalyst 3550, 2950G, 3500 XL and modular Catalyst
    2900 XL Switches."
