Canon Powershot CCD Image Sensor Service Notice - My Experience

Discussion in 'Digital Photography' started by Paul Michaels, Dec 1, 2007.

  1. So my old Canon Powershot SD110 back up digital camera started taking
purple/black/distorted images a few weeks ago. I did some research
online and as some of you may know there was a "service notice" (aka
recall) of many digital cameras from a bunch of different
manufacturers who used Sony CCD image sensors with defective wiring.

Long story short, I sent in my beat up SD110 to the Canon service
center and got a shiny new (refurbished) SD1000 back in about 7
    business days. :)

I've got some example pictures of what the CCD defect caused here -

The service notice included quite a few models, so if your Powershot's
LCD or pictures are turning out purple/black/green/pink/blue - send it
in and you might get a newer model if yours is too old to fix.

    Cheers,
