Canon IXUS 500 - seem any good reviews of it yet?

Discussion in 'Digital Photography' started by Shiperton Henethe, May 5, 2004.

  1. Hi

I am thinking of buying a Canon IXUS 500
(from a "sealed-bid" auction site here in the UK).

But I can't find any proper reviews for it!
    (e.g. www.dpreview.com, epinions.com, havent done it yet)

    - Anyone found any online reviews for the
    Canon Digital IXUS 500, yet?!

Also I would like to see what it looks like from
different angles. I presume the lens closes itself
away and protects the lens when retracted, no?

    With thanks

  5. Nice one.
Though fractionally amateur or am I being too harsh?
e.g. No formal star-rating system to simplify things for us!

The IXUS 200, 300, 400 were all awesome cameras. The
S45 and S50 even better. No hands on experience with
the IXUS 430 or 500, but should be a safe bet. Nice
sharp images even with the IXUS 200.

  9. Hi

Thanks I now have three to link to on our "luxury auction" site.

    www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1581455,00.asp?kc=PCRSS02129TX1K0000530
    www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/S500/S50A.HTM#specs
    www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_s410_s500-review/index.shtml

However us the "Canon IXUS 500" (as sold in the UK) is *exactly*
the same thing as the "Canon PowerShot S500 Digital ELPH"??

(I would love to tell you where our luxury auction site
is, but I might get flamed...!)

    With thanks
