I want to develop a voice mail system that integrates with a Cisco IP
    telephony network.

In the network they have a CallManager and a softswitch Cisco BTS. As a
voice mail system, which network part should divert calls to me? Is it
the CallManager or the softswitch? And what is the difference between a
    Callmanager and a softswitch?

And do I receive the calls as SIP calls or as H323 calls or is it
    configurable?
Please help, or provide me with resources!

    Thanks a lot,
    Rami

  2. Hello,
Perhaps it will be faster and more cost-efficient to use the already
available solutions? There is Cisco Unity, or also there is a cheaper,
open-source solution - PortaUM from Porta Software:
