Bizarre 7960 SIP phone intermittent connectivity issues

Discussion in 'Cisco' started by Grafton Corruption, Sep 27, 2004.

  1. I have a 7960 SIp, talking to Vonage. Phone registers just fine and
calls go through no problem. After 5-10 minutes the phone unregisters,
and no longer has network connectivity past the router. I can ping
around the local subnet from the phone, and to their default router but
    not out onto the Internet.

If I issue a "clear arp" command to the phone, it starts working again.
If I issue a "clear arp" to the phone every 5 minutes or so I can keep
    it running forever.

The "show arp" output on the phone is identical before and after the
outage so I can't figure this out. Also I can ping the router but not
past it until I clear the arp cache.

Router is a Linksys WCG200 and the phone is in one of the 10/100 switch ports.

Any thoughts on what is happening and why clearing the arp cache fixes
    it temporarily?

    Thanks!!!

  2. IP address conflict pops in mind
Check ARP cache and compare with the one of the routers.
See if the MAC is the same.
