Better CPU?

    Looking at a new system and I'm wandering about the difference between the
    P4 with HT and AMD's 2600+. Can't afford to spend a lot and the P4 seems to
    cost a bit more............any suggestions?

    Unless you are really number crunching and have a really lot of RAM
    ( like 2Gb} I would not even consider buying a new computer until
    they have a better method of storage.

    The biggest slow up is the hard disk drive and the other programs.
    that keep you so slow.
