After a short time the yellow shield reappears, as though they need to be
    reinstalled.
I have tried this about 5 times now without success.
Anyone out there know what i could do about it please?
    Im running XP Home edition.
    Thanks
    Mike.

  2. Automatic updates are two steps, one is automatic downloading and then
automatic installing. You may need to do both. Double click on the yellow
icon to start the installing process.

    snip

Try shutting down, you may well find that the updates will install
and you will receive on-screen a message to the effect:
"please wait whilst updates are installed" once complete the PC
    will shut down.
Upon reboot, if any problem with update installation you should
receive a message to that effect.
