Anyone own/seen a review of Compaq NX9000?

I'm after an decent entry-level laptop for use between the office and home
and recently stumbled across a promotion for the HP Compaq NX9000 as seen
    here: http://www.auscorp.com.au/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=11898

My main criteria are for a decent quality 1024x768 laptop with USB2.0,
DVD/CDRW, LAN and whatever else I can get for as little as possible. The
NX9000 seems to fit the bill. All the moreso since it comes with an Ipaq
H1910, the perfect toy for my other half who has decided she needs a PDA all
of a sudden. It's small, pretty, decidedly underpowered but good enough for
all she'll need and should distract her for a while as I get to know my new
    laptop.

Only problem is, I know nothing about Compaq or HP laptops and haven't been
able to source one in person or find a single online review of the NX90xx
line. Do HP or formerly Compaq, have a decent reputation for laptops, has
anyone seen one of the NX line in person, are they as ugly as it looks on
    the website?

Any comments or assistance in reviewing whether I should spend my hard
earned on this deal is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

I've recently installed 8 Compaq NX9010 laptops for one of our
customers and I have to say that they are very nice to work with. The
design is pretty poor but performance is good. If it's design you want
you should check out the Toshiba Satellite P20-S203. This one looks
nice and is also a real workhorse. Only thing missing with the Toshiba
is a free PDA for your other half :)

    Good luck,

    Nico
