Okay people, here's a puzzle or maybe not.

Several people tried accessing a site via the site name i.e. www.site.com,
but all they get is the cannot find..... message. However, if they were to
type in the IP address i.e. http://xx.xxx.xxx.xxx its okay, they are able to
    access that site.

    Anyone explain this reason?

    Many Thanks.

Sounds like an IP DNS (Domain Name System) problem.

tsk tsk tsk. somebody didn't pay a bill.
Or perhaps the owner took it off the current host for some reason.
Or the machine that runs the name servers is having problems.
Find out what the name server is then try the base host and see if that
    works.
such as ns1.site.com may have a working site as site.com.
also check the whois for the domain name and see if it's still alive.

Why don't you post the address and see if everyone has a problem with it?

www.dns411.com enter the name of the site and check the expiration dates.
the report also lists the name servers which may be on a totally different
    machine.
where site.com is what you looked up and the name servers might be on
    ns1.othersite.com
in your browser, enter othersite.com and check it out.
