64 Bit SNMP Counter on a Cisco 2950

  1. Hey Guys,

    i'm having trouble accessing the 64 Bit IfInOctets/IfOutOctets Counter on
    a Cisco 2940.

    When i do a "snmpget -v 2c -c community xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    ..1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.6" i get the following error message:

    ifMIB.ifMIBObjects.ifXTable.ifXEntry.ifHCInOctets = No Such Instance
    currently exists

    The Switch is running: IOS (tm) C2950 Software (C2950-I6Q4L2-M), Version
    12.1(13)EA1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

    I read on a page at cisco.com
    (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_q_and_a_item09186a00800b69ac.shtml)
    that 64 Bit Counters are supported since IOS Version 12.1(11)EA1. So the
    IOS Version shouldn't be the Problem.

    Has somebody encountered similar problems?

    thanks in advance,

    Jan
