3512 XL POST BOOT Error any ideas ???

Discussion in 'Cisco' started by BHAVESH PATEL, Dec 23, 2004.

  1. Hi I need some serious assistance. I bought this switch of ebay to help me
prepare for my CCNA exam. It was working fine for a few days then suddenly
It went dead. The dump below shows that the ports are not responding to the
loop back test and switch is just hanging. Is their anyway I can fix this
    ?????

    Best Regards

    B

  4. Bhavesh,
these POST FAILURES mean that FastEthernet 0/1, 0/4, and 0/8 failed
their Power-On Self Tests which 99% of the means the hardware is bad.
There may be a bug associated with the version of IOS you are running
that would cause this, but I bet it is a hardware problem. If hardware
is the case, the switch is not field servicable so there would be no
way to fix it that Cisco could help you with and parts are not usually
readily available for this equipment. Your only option in this case is
replacement. Since you bought it on eBay, I am guessing you do not
have a SmartNet contract and hence are probably not eligible for
replacement via TAC. I would contact the party(ies) you bought this
equipment from and let them know they sold you defective equipment.

    Good Luck
    -Robert
