I'm new to Visual Studio. I'd like to know if it's worthwhile to learn
Visual Studio.NET 2003 first before learning VS2005? Or, should I just jump
    to VS2005 and disregard VS.NET 2003?

Since you are new I would recommend going right to VS2005.

no way Eric, jump right away to VS2005, it's a monster compared to VS2003.

plus...a lot of the complexity on 03 is out and replaced with more
functionality to learn at least from what I can tell so far.
