Windows XP is much better at handling high-speed Internet connections than the "made for dial-up" Windows 98, but there is still one little tweak that can increase your connection speed. Note, the following tweak only works with Windows XP Professional Edition:
-Click Start, Select "Run"
-Type "GPedit.msc"
-Expand the "Local Computer Policy" branch
-Expand the "Administrative Templates" branch
-Expand the "Network" branch
-Highlight the "QoS Packet Scheduler" in the left window
-In the right window, double-click the "Limit reservable bandwith" setting
-On the settings tab, check the "enabled" item
-Where it says "Bandwith limit %," change it to 0
-Close the window and reboot to make the new settings active
