XVID

    i have a file that windows media and real player wont open ,i have seen this
    before ,but allways came to a dead end ...when i try to open this file
    i get fourcc code "xvid" i get sound but no video
    any idea of wich player suports this xvid codec

    Windows Media Player - but you must locate the XviD codec, or a
    compatible one.

    Try FFDSHOW from http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net and see if that
    takes care of the codec problem.

    XVID is an MPEG-4 compatible codec.
    http://www.dawnload.net/video_software/codecs_and_filters/3ivx_codec.cfm
    will supply you with what you need. Also simply typing xvid in a google
    search engine will bring up all kinds of goodies.
