I recieved a email just now, containing a screen shot of an auction running
on trade me, offering a car,

i have no contacts with this person and the return email address is from a
    vaild xtra account.

The bit that makes me curious is that the location of the auction is the
same town as i am in.

Is that too much of a conquicidence?

then another email from the same people, saying "hi murray
Hi Murray I presume it is in your local New World too Dick, There is no
new world in this town. and the sbuject line contains a place up north near
    whanageri.

Is there a email or website with xtra i can go to and report this as spam?

I doubt it is real spam, it sounds like someone has just typed the wrong
    address in the to field.
