  1. A friend asks:
since applying these updates, the XP boot process stops on a dosprompt and
asks she hit escape to continue.
How can this annoyance be removed ?

    Hi,
Please get her to call Microsoft Services on 0800 800-004, they should be
able to help her sort the problem out

for a whole new skill set on the horizon and are struggling to avoid it. Linux
and open source are the future, get used to it."

Nothing to do with a "Dos prompt". What would you know or care about it?

I don't know anything about that, and don't care at all to use Windoze
boxen, but it was an unusual fault and I was curious to know what caused
    it.
