XP trouble finding LAN

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by XPonential Trouble, Jan 7, 2005.

  1. Dude you got a DELL!! Dell laptop running XP Pro.
Maps folders on the network just fine, brings up files etc beautifully,
gets finicky - sometimes on sometimes off - seeing "Workgroup" computers
generally shared files. HP printers have been an on/off disaster.

Complicating factors: Home network configured, Work network configured,
and Wireless work network configured. Home is named separately, but the
work wireless and LAN might be fighting somewhere I can't see. Firewall
down doesn't seem to matter, it just slows down and looks for the
printer or other computers and sometimes finds them sometimes doesn't.
Bouncing the print spool works occasionally.... It's a constant
sometimes yes sometimes no and ALWAYS slow finding other computers on
the net whether it finds them or not.

Ideas anyone?? I'm going to try disabling the wireless connection on
workgroup, but if anyone has seen this before, I'd really, REALLY enjoy
    hearing from ya!

    XP
