I'm losing my touch. I have a Windows XP Pro machine that boots to the
dual color blue screen that has the Microsoft Windows XP Professional
text on it (graphic logo) which appears just before the logon prompt.
However, it never gets to the logon prompt. I tried booting to CD to do
a repair, but it doesn't work. When it asks for the Administrator's
password, which I believe is blank, it immediately exits to the C:
prompt. (I tried a different password, and it said that the password was
invalid.) I don't know what else to try.

It sounds to me like the whole thing is hosed -- may be a fresh install is
    in order. :)

    Do you mean a "repair/install?"

Doesn't sound like it to me. But it may be what's needed at this point.
