    Greetings,

    I have:

AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 1.53 GHz
    512MB of RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce4 MX440 64 MB

    Would this:

AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Processor 2.16GHz

Give me much improvement in speed? Or is it not worth the cost
considering it's such a little jump in processing power?

The goal is in regards to two things:

    1) Make Civilization IV run faster between turns.
    2) Make applications a little "snappier."

    Thanks!

probably not ... 512 is getting on to minimum for
heavy games so i'd up the ram before replacing
    an Athlon 1.53....
you're gforce card is good but a little light at 64Meg....
128 to 256 would be more in the field...
    plus..
Does your mobo support the upgrade. to a 3G ?
Always watch upgrading beyond the mobo's
bus speeds... you're new kit might not perform
with the lower bus speeds available on the mobo..

    All in all ...
    I would recommend...
    new card first..
    more ram second..
    Total upgrade third...

but fuckit... if you really want to play that game...
run it on a known machine bigger than yours yeah..
    test it... good luck...(option 3 !.... option 3!)

Can I get a good, 128 MB video card for about $100?

    What do you recommend?

Where do most people buy their video cards?
