    Can you connect to other users on a home wireless network via UNC or even
    ping them to see if there connected etc.

    All pc's use an ADSL broadband router

  2. Yes, if all the computers use the same workgroup name and all have file sharing turned on.

    Yes. Whether computers in a LAN are connected using wire or wireless is
    irrelevant.

    And you also need to configure the Fie Sharing on the computer that you want
    to connect to. Otherwise there No reason to connect it it probably would not
    connect.
    Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local
    traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should
    be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers
    on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party
    Firewall instructions.
