Cut and paste everything between the lines and paste it into notepad. Save
the file as helpfix.reg and save it to the desktop. make sure you change the
save as type.... drop down box to all files. Once saved double click on the
file to merge it into the registry. Reboot.

Well I know a thing or two about computers and even I wouldn't add
unverified registry entries to my system. Who really knows what all those
obscure hex codes and unhelpful cl-sids really mean or do?

Well I do know about the registry maybe you should learn about it before
spouting off. It's not very hard except for trolls, they are too stupid to
    learn.

So enlighten us as to the function of each entry please. Is anyone who
offers a conflicting opinion automatically labelled a troll?

A common problem with HTML Help 1.x is DLLs not correctly registered during
installation. The files below need to registered in order for help to work.
Chances are they are already registered but the registry is corrupted. I
just simply exported known good registry keys from a system with a working
help center and posted them here for the op to merge.
Just a brief description of a few files and what they do.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\hhctrl.ocx

Ok, so rather than faffing around with at first sight untrusted registry
entries, why not just re-register the DLLs? I would search for the command
myself but the area is currently suffering a full CATV outage (both
broadband and TV) so I'm without internet at the time of typing, but I'm
    sure it's a simpler procedure.

Notice: this is a discussion and no mention of trolls, except just then
    ;)

That's what the command does. You already have the dll on your system,
registering it is telling the registry that the file is there and how to use
it. But it is no good if you don't know what files to use. I could have just
as easily posted a link to a program to do the same thing but the "Trolls"
would have use the same excuse you used i.e. you don't know what that
    program does.

Ah, but a command is a valid and recognisable solution and separates the
trolls from the just paranoid ;)
