Windows Vista x64 Issues.

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by news.blueyonder.co.uk, Jan 26, 2007.

  1. Hi folks,

I just recently upgraded to Windows Vista x64. Now there are two devices in
my device manager that I am unable to install.

    1. Either - Belkin USB wireless 54g adapter and Zydas Wireless 54g b/g USB
    Wireless adapter.

    2. Intel Dial Up in-built modem.

I used Windows Vista's search online wizard for both devices and it could
not find the drivers. Now I tired to get to the manufactuers website.
Unfortunately, it appears Belkin and Zydas (now defunct) does not appear to
have made drivers for Vista x64.

After googling around. I read something about a Linux 64 bit driver for
Zydas USB wireless adapter can work with Vista but i could not find the
documentation and the driver to do this.

Now, i dont know where to start to find the x64 drivers for the dial-up
modem. All I know it is Intel as it shows on the chip on the card.

    Any advice?

    Thanks.

Replace the two with devices that have x64 drivers.

You needed to do this why?

You did know what your were getting into? Hopefully you ran previous CTP
releases from Microsoft otherwise you wouldn't be surprised bu this.

The only things I did before buying a x64 box was to check the vendors
sites for all the parts had x64 drivers, either Vista or Win XP. This
    worked out fine.

    Stick to 32bit.

Failing that, several times in 24HSHD
    http://groups.google.com/group/24hoursupport.helpdesk/topics
    stuff has been posted like

    Well to save time,

    Newsgroups: microsoft.public.windows.64bit.general

You will finds lots of info on drivers, sites with drivers, workaround
issues , lots of great stuff to read.

Get the NG, (also mentioned a lot in 24hshd)
    1) subscribe through your usenet provider

    2) web i/f to ms, communities
    http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/default.mspx

    3) configure your usenet app to an additional server,
    msnews.microsoft.com

Yes. Go back to XP. Why the hell anyone would consider Vista an upgrade is
beyond me. Don't read much, do you?
