  2. Is there a question to go with this? Did you experience a crash with Volume
    Shadow on Server 2003 x64?

Whenever we try to run a System State backup, those are the errors that are
    given.

  4. Sorry, SMF, I really can't help on this one, I wish I could. The only thing
I know about Volume Shadow Copy is that it creates multiple versions of a
source file that is edited by multiple users. Its possible that the service
has become corrupted and you need to do a repair install of Server 2003 x64
or disable the service (which wouldn't make sense if you use it).

  5. You should try posting this to one of the microsoft.public.windows.server.*

Yes, I thought so too. But people in the server newsgroups should be more
knowledgeable about these matters, don't you think? :)

  8. Hello,
What priviliges is the SQL Server Service running under?
It may need to run under the Domain Administrator account rather than under
    local system.
    Thanks,

Darrell, might I suggest adding microsoft.public.windows.server.64bit.*
    newsgrouops?

    thanks,

  10. I have suggested this from a long time ago in CPP group, a question like
this easily gets lost in the Client group.

Called MSFT and they say that it is a known issue with the MSDE VS writer.
Must stop SQL before we run NTBackup for now.

Maybe I need to post this in the tech-beta newsgroup? Will give it a shot
and see if it takes. :)

  15. Hello,
This has been proposed a number of times. It's still under discussion.
    Thanks,

Thank you too Darrell. I hope the decision maker(s) decide to do it.
Especially when Longhorn Home Server makes the scene. :)

  17. I think its about time Microsoft introduces one of that and call it an
Appliance server for managing your stove to your TV.

  18. Don't hold your breath. ;)

Personally, I think that the need for a 64-bit newsgroup will be transient.
And it's a lot harder to get rid of a NG than it is to create it.

Just like they said in the 50's? "Television is a fad, it will pass." LOL

  20. No, it's not that 64 bit will pass (at least not for a while), it's that the
problems that make it different will pass, and the problems we see here will
move on to simply be Windows problems, not 64-bit problems.
