Windows 7 Shutdown

Hi, I am running Windows 7 64bit. I have an external hard drive
enclosed in one of those NexStar MX cases. I am also running RAID on
those drives. The RAID control is handled through the hardware switch
    on the drive case.

At any rate, Windows 7 will not shut down. It just sits there and
spins forever. But, if I pull the USB or shut it off, Windows will
    shut down right away.

When in Windows I have no problem accessing the drive, it is only
during shutdown. What do you think can be going wrong here? If I do
unplug it and after re-booting plug it back in, Windows recognizes it,
but the lights stay on for more than 24 hours, almost like it is
    sync'ing up or something.

Any ideas why it will not shut down?

    Thanks a lot!

You should contact the manufacturer. According to their website
Windows 7 is not listed as being compatible with this hardware.
