Win 98 -- File manager will not open multiple files.

I've just recently reinstalled Win 98 SE and loaded all the Windows
    updates.

I prefer using winfile.exe (File manager) to open files rather than
Explorer and others. But ... with this latest install ... File
Manager will open only one file in a directory. ... the directory
list goes blank immediately ... and File Manager no longer works.
Has to be closed down and re-opened.

    Never had this before!

Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas for a fix.

    don't know what's wrong...
but it's best not to use file manager...
as if you move or copy anything it will trash your long file names

    Try renaming "c:\windows\winfile.ini".
