Win 2k3 on Sun's x64 hardware--*any* issues?

    Hello,

I am evaluating both the sun fire x4200/x4500 and comparable offerings
from IBM. I was told that there have been compatibility issues between
AMD's x64 CPUs and Win2k3. Also I was told there have been
compatibility issues between Sun's SAS driver's and Win2k3. Has anyone
    experienced any problems at all?

    Thanks much,
    Gabe

  2. There are zero compatibility issues with AMD x64 CPUs. Most of us here are
    running exactly that.

That being said, I have no knowledge about Sun's implementation of SAS, or
which drivers it requires or whether Sun provides those drivers.

Also, to be clear - there are both 32-bit and 64-bit implementations of
Windows Server 2003 SP1 that can run on AMD x64 CPUs. You need to make a
decision which you'll use, and then make sure you have the necessary drivers
    to support it.

  4. Running both here. I've had some problems, but none of them have been the
CPU. And they haven't been specific to either brand.

It's important to realize that the architecture is AMD's invention. The
Intel is just a clone of the AMD. (and yes, it's all derived from earlier
x86 processors.) If Intel had had their way, we'd be using Itaniums.
