Why You Need a Package Manager

  1. People may have Dimdows Update turned on, but it doesn't help with this sort
    of thing

    So you need to configure your Adobe Updates, your Apple Updates, your
    Symantec Updates ... and so on and so on and so on.

    Wouldn't it be easier to have a systemwide facility called "check for
    software updates", that keeps _everything_ you have installed up-to-date
    with one click? All modern OSes offer that, don't they?
