What to get when registering a domain name

    Hi,
    When one register for a domain name what should one be sure that he/she
    gets. Does anyone know if there is a faq on this if so, where.

    Well, all you get is ownership of the name really. Just watch out for
    some of the smaller registrars as they often have huge fees for changing
    things.

    You have so mangled the rights you have when you register a domain as to
    earn the inevitable "Wrong!".

    If you are asking about what other features you get, besides the name,
    you get nothing. Registering a domain name is only that.

    The rest is a place to park that name -- it has to point somewhere. You
    need a hosting machine, one that is up and connected. People pay for
    this --it's the part where you get more than the name. You can sort
    among amount of storage, permitted amount of data movement, mail
    addresses, and lots more.

    If you'd like, there is a site somewhere that compares cheap hosts. It
    won't look at all of them, maybe only partnered sites, but it's still
    worth seeing.
