I have installed Second Life but it won't run - just hangs. I've
looked at the system requirements and wonder if my video card may be
the problem - I have an ATI Radeon XPress 200 series. This came with
the PC and I suspect is not a particularly high quality card. But it
does seem odd that it's not even capable of displaying graphics in
Second Life. Games work fine, eg Castle Wolfenstein etc. Any
suggestions on how to get Second Life working with my current set up?

    Thanks in advance

More likely to have something to do with your browser/proxy settings.

B.t.w. installed? I looked at it once, and it was entirely browser based ?!?
Do they have a custom client now?

Yep, you have to download a 30 meg file to install it.
