On 24 July I downloaded and installed the following Windows Updates:
    331953
    811493
    Q329441
    Q329834
    Q810565
    Q814033
    Q815021
    Q816093
    Q817287

As per my Windows Update Notification. Today is the first time that I
have attempted to send by email an attachment. (Only a little one, an
Excel Spreadsheet of 100kb). I couldn't. The sending process just hung.
No error message, nothing. All other email, news and browsing OK. I did
    a restore to before
these updates, and Bingo! I can send the attachment!

Can anyone point me towards which was the offending update, because I'm
buggered if I can see that any of these should have affected sending
    email attachments!

    thanks

I don't know which one could be causing the problem, but
you could install one at a time until you find the culprit.
