Variable Bit Rate wma compatibility issues?

Discussion in 'NZ Computing' started by Peter Jenkins, Apr 15, 2005.

  1. I'm about to convert some music to wma VBR format for taking
overseas. I will be buying a portable player and maybe also a car
    head unit later.

Are wma VBR files playable on all/most/some or only a few
    portable/car players?

Also if anyone has had experinces good bad or infifferent of VBR
files I'd be interested to know

    Thanks in advance

I've partly answered my own question now. Found an in car head unit
that does this, the JVC KD-SC05 here
    http://www.novasound.co.nz/cdplayer1.htm
Very nice, and it only cost me $209!
Installed in my car, it goes really well.

Went and looked at some portable units, all except the cheapest ones
are wma compatible. Saw a Creative Zen with 20GB capacity for around
$450 which I liked the look of, will go back and get it later methinks
    Regards
