    Hi,
For my company (headquarter in Europe_ I am looking for an IT Director in
    the USA.
What is your opinion about the value of MCSA in this context?

Why would the VALUE be localized? Wouldn't an MCSA in Europe have passed
the same tests as one in US or in China?

    Hi Martin,

Although I thihk that MCSA is a great certification with real value the
answer to your question depends on a lot of factors. When you say IT
Director will there be an IT Department? Will he be managing/overseeing a
staff? Or will he really just be a systems administrator?

A true director does need the technical skills but also the people skills,
and that does not come with the MCSA cert.

    Good luck!

Well, that's exactly what I wonder. Is there a difference between US and EU?

I can't imagine how the MCSA would differ in either region. Although, this
is coming from someone who has only visited Europe. I would think putting
MCSA/MCSE in the advertisement wouldn't hurt. Montreal's comment is very
true. MCSA/etc will help if you're looking for an admin. If you're looking
for someone to direct a group of engineers, it may not matter. Hope this
    helped some...

Poor question - to which Montreal has given the only logical answer - to
which I add: what are the skill levels required, formal educational
requirements, entrance experience level? Does a particular applicant with an
    MCSA meet the criteria.

    Ok,

True, an IT Director has to deal with people, but wil MCSA give him/her
enough "body" to judge IT processes and will he/she be able to do decent IT
assessments? Will he/she have enough IT-knowledge for the job?

    About the regional differences:
I'm from Europe. I estimate that here about 25% of people with a
certification really earns the certification. I mean cheeting is very
easy... it is a mentallity thing. How about the US?

    Martin,
Depending on what country your in, I believe that the MENTALITY THING is in
Europes favour. I had lived and work in Europe for over 10 years and I can
assure you American Management is not what you want compared to properly
educated European business people. However I do think the MCSA Certification
is of great value and all industries suffer from Cheats.
