I know it's crazy and I might get a lot of false advice, but I'll give
    it a shot:

    I have 2 - APC Smart_UPS600's that need batteries. Yeah, they're old,
but worked great all these years - until now. THe batteries need
replacing. I've seen batteries for about $40 online. A lot of outfits
sell a lot of batteries for them - anyone have recommendations ? Of
either a dealer or battery brand to choose ? Or maybe " all batteries
are alike and wherever you get the best deal" is valid too - just
    thought I'd ask.

In general stick to the manufacturers recommendations for replacements.
FWIW in my UPS450 the replacement is a Yusa brand. Uk price £17.00.

40 bucks sounds high to me. But what is the part number of these
batteries? And what is the volts and AH rating?
