Upgrading Mac OS

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by ~Mary O'Neill, Apr 27, 2007.

  1. An elderly lady that lives in my mom's apartment complex bought a
printer for her computer. She couldn't get it to print though. My mom
volunteered me to help her out.

To my surprise she has an IMac. I've never used anything but a PC. I
did find out though that her software for her printer hadn't been put on
her Mac. Upon further discovery, the software is for OS X 10.4.6, from
what I am remembering, and would not load onto her Mac. After going to
help I found she has Mac OS 9.4.

I've been all over the HP website to see if they had printer software
for her operating system to no avail. My question is: How easy/hard
would it be to put the new OS on her Mac? I don't know anything else
about her Mac, like memory etc. The Apple website says "You'll be ready
to roll with Tiger in as little as 30 minutes".

    Help!
