Upgrade Windows Server 2003 R2 to 64-bit?

Discussion in 'Windows 64bit' started by =?Utf-8?B?Q2h1Y2s=?=, Sep 27, 2006.

  1. Does anyone know if you can upgrade Windows Server 2003 R2 to the 64-bit
version assuming you have the proper hardware? Or do you need to wait for
Longhorn to be released and follow it's upgrade path?

  2. You cannot upgrade from an x86 platform to an x64 platform. A clean
    installation is required.

  3. You won't ever be able to do an in place upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit.
