I'm working on a T21 for a friend and got XP/ everything working - except
    this one issue:
When I power up, I see start up screens until it 'senses an external
monitor' and the LCD goes black. Problem is - there is NO external monitor
so I have to press Fn+F7 to get video to appear on LCD. Maybe it's got a
bad pin on dock ? If I hook up external it DOES come on as LCD goes to
black. I (she) don't care to use the external feature, so - rather than
    having to Fn_F7 every boot,

How to turn OFF that option ?
So only LCD comes on/stays on ?
When I check Device Mgr for Display Adapters,
    it an S3 Graphics Savage/IX1014
    For "monitors", I see listed.

    Default monitor
    TV
    ThinkPad LCD

I was wondering - can I DISABLE the Default Monitor ?
I've never tried that and thinking .. maybe no a good idea if XP needs one
    at startup.

I'm going to IBM website to check if possible to change it in BIOS etc , but
any input from ThinkPad users would be appreciated.

Set your screen preference in the BIOS ! Internal, External, Both or
Auto. Not all choices are in all BIOS !

I did fix it - only by updating the BIOS, but now LCD works fine.
    Thanks
