The criteria for any backup system is that it backs up everything
needed and that it can be restored from.

I am running TB2. I sometimes lose an important email folder, and
would like to be able to restore the folder and its emails from my
backups. I am backing up the entire folder, sub-folders, and files in
    C:\Documents and storage\[user]\application data\thunderbird\*.* but I
cannot figure out how to restore a email folder and its contents from
    it.

    Can it be done?
