    Why do I get this:

no translation group found for udp src inside:192.168.0.9/123 dst
    outside:192.5.41.40/123

in PIX logs? The system at 192.168.0.9 is trying to pull SNTP info from
tick.usno.navy.mil. Why would it need a translation group to do this?

    Thanks...

Either 192.168.0.9 is not covered by any 'nat' statement, or
there isn't the corresponding 'global' statement on the interface
that would be routed to 192.5.41.40 .

'translation group' is PIXese for "configured address translation",
whether through a "nat 0", 'static', or nat/global pair.
