I tried to download the new IOS and it complained about not enough
space, is there a way around it?? we do have 2 pcmcia slots in sup720.

the other question is should I upgrade flash or bootflash and after
upgrading I should be able to just do the following and it should boot
    in the newer IOS

    no boot system flash sup-bootflash:
    copy tftp://tftpserver/newimage.img sup-bootflash:/newimage.img
    boot system flash sup-bootflash:/newimage.img

    right??

    The following might help

    #sh running-config | incl boot
    boot system flash sup-bootflash:

    #sh ver

Since there is only 64MB on internal flash, you need to delete old image first.
Another option is to boot from Compact Flash, that would be disk0:

Nope. It's CF, not PCMCIA cards.

    With best regards,
