    Parents are getting Jetstream installed.

    Mac os 9.2

    I dont know the modem.

    They are currenty using dialup.

What is needed to be changed to get it going?

Do they just have to change open transport to ethernet? What happens to
    remote access?

    Thanks

from memory (have not used 9 for years!), set the ethernet to use dhcp,
that should be about it. The use a web browser to set up the modem. DO
NOT ever use a USB modem, they are bits of shit not worth the cost of
the packaging, get a real one that uses ethernet.

    Dane-

they will want to open the TCP/IP control panel, create a new
configuration, and name it 'jetstream'. Click OK.

Set it to connect via Ethernet. An IP address then needs to be entered
for the iMac, along with the IP for the router (check what the manual
or user guide specifies), the subnet mask (usually 255.255.255.0), and
then the DNS settings for their ISP (should be included in the joining
    confirmation etc).

Once all the settings are entered, close the TCP/IP window and click
on Save to save the settings. Having done this, Remote Access is
moreorless disabled because the iMac has now been told to look for its
connection through the ethernet port, and not through the built in
    modem port.
