When I boot my computer, the mouse works fine. Before the computer finishes booting, the mouse pointer goes to a spot about 1/3 from the left side of the screen and about 1/3 from the top of the screen. When I try to move the mouse in any direction, the pointer vibrates but stays in the same spot.

The problem started after I installed the driver for a Sony 17 in 1 multi-card reader. For a while it seemed to work ok, then the mouse problem started. I've tried using shift-alt-numlock thinking the mouse was disabled and the keypad mousekeys were turned on. That seemed to cure the problem. But the minute I plugged the Sony multicard reader back into the computer, the sticky mouse thing happened again and this time, shift-alt-numlock doesn't have any effect. Disconnecting the multicard reader has no effect.

I would uninstall the Sony driver but I don't know where it is or what it's called. The Sony CD just has one exe file called SonyStorageDriver.exe. It must be an extraction file because there isn't a file by that name on my computer.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!
